UPLiFT Rock n' Roll Christmas Party 2014. This year's Christmas Party was held last December 12 at the Rizal Hall of the World Exchange Center in Binondo, Manila with a "Rock n' Roll" theme. Most of the staff came in either punk or hard rock get-ups. The event was a great time for all UPLiFT staff, coming from the different Programs, to socialize and unwind after a year of hardwork.
Highlights of the event were the Dance Competition and the Annual Performance Awards. Central Luzon Program was this year's Dance Champion, while Catmon of CAMANAVA Program was this year's Branch of the Year. There were four Outstanding LDOs awarded this year, namely, Ana May Ganalon (Pasig/Manila), Rhea Anajao (SJDM/Bulacan), Michelle Jallores (Muzon/Quezon City) and Laila Caneta (Northeast/Quezon City).
A partner from Delpan Branch (Manila), Mr. Arnel Narito, was given the Community Leadership award for his contibution to his community. Thelma Delos Santos-Chavez was this year's lone Service Awardee, having served UPLiFT for 10 years. At the end of the evening, Wilfredo Bunsoy (Central Luzon) and Benjielyn Ramos (Manila) were declared Male and Female Stars of the Night, respectively.

Central Luzon and Pangasinan Opens New Branches. Aside from being well-known for their sweet mangoes, Zambales (Central Luzon) and San Carlos City (Pangasinan) now have another thing in common with the opening of UPLiFT branches in both areas. Central Luzon Program now has 6 branches with the opening of its Iba Branch in Zambales last November 2014, which is located at Purok III, Brgy. Sto. Rosario. On the other hand, Pangasinan Program opened its 3rd branch in San Carlos City in December 2014 with the office located along Burgos Street.
UPLiFT 2014 Assesment & Planning Workshop. For this year's Assesment & Planning, UPLiFT chose Pine Breeze Cottages in Baguio City for its venue. With the cool weather and relaxed ambience, the place was conducive for the participants to discuss issues and exchange ideas more effectively.
The workshop was held last October 23 to 25. The first day was focussed on the operations report from the different Programs.
On the second day, the Finance Supervisors presented the financial status of their respective programs. This was followed by a consolidated report given by the Finance Manager.
UPLiFT Opens its Tarlac Program. UPLiFT further expanded its operations in Region III with the opening of its new program in Tarlac province last October 2014. The program office is located along Bernarda St., Gate 2, Brgy. San Sebastian, Tarlac City. Its first branch - Tarlac City Branch, is annexed to the program office.
UPLiFT Conducts Management Development Workshop - Batch 2. Area Managers and Branch Managers from UPLiFT’s Provincial Programs (BULACAN, CAVITE & CENTRAL LUZON) attended a similar 5-day workshop given to NCR Programs. Focus was still on Management Development and this was held every Friday starting June 05 until June 27, at the Asian Social Institute in Malate, Manila.
Central Luzon Program Opens its Limay Branch. Central Luzon Program established its 5th Branch in Limay, Bataan last July 28. The new branch office is located at #0089 Brgy. Reformista.
Cavite Program Opens its GMA Branch. UPLiFT expanded further south of Luzon with the opening of GMA Branch under the Cavite Program. This branch not only serves clients from the municipality of GMA (General Mariano Alvarez), but it also targets from nearby areas covered by Silang and Carmona. The branch office is located at B41 L10, Phase 06, Brgy. Banaba.
Pangasinan Program Opens its Alaminos Branch. UPLiFT's newest Program opened its 2nd branch in Alaminos City last July of this year. The newest branch office is located at Brgy. Poblacion.
UPLiFT Team Building 2014. Passion + Leadership = 75 @ 25! That's OUR GOAL!
UPLiFT aims to reach 75,000 clients on its 25th Year! To achieve this, everyone in the organization must be unified in their efforts, in terms of providing efficient and quality services to the communities. A Team Building event was organized last May 15 to 16 to unify the staffs coming from the different UPLiFT Programs. Also, this provided opportunity for the new recruits, especially from the Central Luzon and the Pangasinan programs, to meet the rest of their UPLiFT family.
For this year's Team Building, UPLiFT again headed north to Bahay Bakasyunan Resort in Iba, Zambales. The employees were divided into different Color Groups during the Obstacle Race and the Mixed Volleyball Tournaments. But, for the Cheerdance Competition and the Search for Mr. & Ms. UPLiFT, the competition was inter-Program. The rest of the time was spent having fun on the beach and enjoying the amenities of the resort.

UPLiFT Opens its Pangasinan Program. UPLiFT continues to grow! In April this year, it expanded its operations to Northern Luzon with the opening of its Pangasinan Program.
A simple Dedication Service, officiated by Rev. Eduardo Del Rosario, was held during the formal inauguration last April 8, 2014 to consecrate the program for the glory of God and service to the communities.
The Program Office is located in Lingayen, the provincial capital, along Maramba Boulevard. The first Pangasinan branch, also in Lingayen, is located in the same address.
UPLiFT Conducts Management Development Workshop. Area Managers and Branch Managers from UPLiFT’s NCR Programs (CAMANAVA, MANILA & QUEZON CITY) attended a 5-day workshop on Management Development held every Friday which started from March 7 to April 4 of this year, at the Asian Social Institute in Malate, Manila.
Mr. Edmon Sison, UPLiFT’s Executive Director, conducted a refresher course on “How to be an Effective Manager”. He focused on the different qualities, duties and responsibilities that a good MFI manager should possess.

Mr. Miguel Sano, the Operations Manager, handled the topics on “Core Values of the Institution”, “Setting-up a Branch” & “Team Leadership”.

Ms. Lisa Dingalan, the Finance Manager, discussed “Financial Analysis”, with emphasis on sustainability, profitability and efficiency.
With this workshop, both AM’s and BM’s are now better equipped to handle challenges faced by today’s MFI. Their awareness on the proper approaches to Management Development will help them achieve not just good results, but rather results that are lasting and sustainable.
CMA 2013 National Winner Enrico Fojas Honored During Town Hall Event. UPLift partner Enrico Fojas, from Bulacan Program, was the National Winner of the Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards 2013. He received his award last December 2013 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Manila together with the other regional winners. In the same ceremony, UPLiFT, his partner MFI, and Ms. Sarah Jean Dela Cruz, his loan officer, each received a plaque of recognition.
In February 11th of this year, a CMA Town Hall event was also organized as a homecoming celebration for Mr. Fojas. This allowed his family, friends and town mates to share in his success. According to Citi Corporate Affairs Director Aneth Lim, they hope that by bringing the awards program to the winner's hometown, more Filipinos will be inspired to partner with microfinance institutions and take proactive solutions to improving their lives through microenterprise.
The event was held in Minia’s Kainan, a native restaurant in Hagonoy, Bulacan. Mr. Kevin Goco, Citi Corporate Citizenship Manager, presented to Mr. Fojas a Health Card and a Life Insurance Certificate as part of the prize. The local government unit of Hagonoy was represented by Vice Mayor Pedro Santos Jr.
Just like all previous CMA winners, Mr. Fojas took an oath, the “Panata ng CMA Alumni”, in the presence of Ms. June Hamoy from MCPI. As a micro entrepreneur, he made a promise to be a good example to others. He swore to always strive for success, with the help and guidance of his MFI, in the service of his family, his co-workers and his community.
