Building Bonds and Inspiration: Uplift Scholars Meet and Greet

by | Jul 9, 2026 | Events

At Uplift, we believe that scholarship is more than just financial support , it is about building a community of learners, leaders, and friends. To strengthen this bond, on June 22, 2026, scholars from the North Program gathered at the Uplift Tarlac Branch, followed by the South Program scholars who met on June 26, 2026, at CHO in Burke.

The main objective of these activities was simple yet powerful: to connect with fellow scholars, build stronger relationships, learn from one another, and move beyond seeing each other only as “co-scholars” but as peers and partners in growth.

Getting to Know One Another

The program began with an interactive workshop titled Know Your Co-Scholar.” This activity encouraged everyone to step out of their comfort zones and ask thoughtful questions about each other:  their backgrounds, interests, dreams, and challenges. Through open conversation, barriers were broken, and new friendships began to form.

The highlight of the event was the open discussion with Uplift Executive Director, Mr. Edmon  Sison. For most scholars, his name was familiar , seen on documents, forms, and official communications  but this session gave them the chance to know him beyond his title. Mr. Sison shared personal stories from his own experiences, lessons he has learned through the years, and insights on education, resilience, and success.

These meet-and-greet sessions proved that connection is truly a key to growth. Scholars went home not just with new friends, but also with a stronger sense of belonging in the Uplift community, valuable lessons and inspiration from Mr. Sison, and a deeper appreciation for the support system behind their scholarship journey.
